Waiting on Wednesday: Court of Thorns and Roses

wow

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that showcases the upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

I was taking part in both Waiting on Wednesday and WWW Wednesdays but it was getting a little too much trying to do both on the same day. I have decided to keep doing both but now on alternate weeks. That way I can still keep doing both of them – the best of both worlds really!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is:

Top Ten Books To Read To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Halloween is just around the corner. Skeletons will be after you! Witches cats and big, black bats, ghosts and goblins too… Seriously though, I often used to wish I lived in America. They make Halloween look so fun! It just wasn’t the same in the UK. :(

Nevermind, there are plenty of other ways to get into the Halloween spirit. Reading a scary book will do just the trick!

Trick or Treat! Vintage YA Recommendations #2

halloween recs

It has been a long since I have posted anything regarding my goal to re-read vintage Young Adult books (mostly from the 80’s/90’s but there are some from the 70’s thrown in there too!). I thought it was about time that I did something about that and what better opportunity to discuss my favourite teen horror novels than the week leading up to Halloween?

Fictional Bucket List #6

Untitled

I have spotted several versions of the Fictional Bucket List popping up on a few blogs now and I think it is really awesome so I couldn’t resist making up a list of my own!

Basically it is a bucket list for all the literary worlds you would love to visit or literary characters you would like to interact with – the sky’s the limit! Throughout the months of October/November I will be counting down my top 10 so stay tuned! I have already shared my #10 choice here, my #9 choice here, my #8 choice here. and my #7 choice here. My next selection on my Fictional Bucket List would be…

Stepping Backwards in Time…

backwards

In light of the fact that the clocks go back in the early hours of tomorrow, I thought I would do something a little bit different. Time is literally going back an hour – so what better way to celebrate this fact than having a look at Young Adult books that feature time travel?

I haven’t read all of these series but they definitely intrigue me…

Stacking the Shelves #39

sts
Stacking The Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Here are the rules:

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

  • Participants are to create their own Stacking the Shelves post and link bank to Tynga’s Reviews so more people can join the fun!
  • Posts can be laid out any way you want.
  • The host site posts updates on a Saturday but bloggers taking part can post any day they choose.
  • Visit Tynga’s Reviews on a Saturday and add your link.
  • Visit other participants sites to find out what they have added!

The rules are simple and it is a really fun way to showcase your books and see what other bloggers are excited about this week! Not to mention the fact that it is a good way to interact with and get to know other bloggers!

Films to watch on Halloween

halloween

I am a huge fan of horror films – the scarier the better! Halloween is a perfect time to curl up with a loved one (or by yourself if you are brave!) and watch a spooky film or two. Here is a list of my top ten horror films (just personal opinion – I know there are a ton of amazingly scary films out there).
